Liverpool Street Station (map)
Come along on Saturday 21st November for a day trip to the historic town of Colchester!
About Colchester
Colchester is situated about 50 miles north east of London and is steeped in history.
It was the Roman capital of Great Britain from their invasion in AD 43 to when they left at around AD 400.
In AD 60, there was a revolt against the Romans by Boudicca, the queen of the Iceni tribe and they massacred the Roman population and burnt the city to the ground.
Even after the Romans left, the town was invaded by the Vikings in AD 879 and by the Normans in the 11th century, who built a fantastic castle. It was also involved in a famous siege during the English Civil War in 1648.
When we get to Colchester, we will be going on a guided walk of the town (£4 each) and then visiting the 11th century castle (entry is £7, which includes a guided tour).
We will be meeting up at Liverpool Street station at 10:15am, on the concourse, underneath the departure board with the aim of getting the 10:38am train to 'Colchester Town station'. The train journey lasts 1 hour and a return ticket costs around £16 each, although we should be able to get 2 tickets for the price of 1.
If you can't see us at the station, please call.
Hope to see you there!
Regards
