On Saturday 27th March, we are having a 1940's themed day!
At 1pm we will be visiting the Britain At War Experience and then in the evening we will be going to a concert at the Royal Festival Hall on 1940's music!
About the Britain at War Experience
The Second World War was the most turbulent and eventful period in the history of the 20th century. It affected the lives of millions of people all over the world, advanced technology and changed political boundaries and ideas of human behaviour.
But what was it really like? How did it really feel to be a British citizen during the Second World War? What did people eat and wear? The Britain at War Experience can answer these questions and many more.
The experience lasts about 1h 30mins and is £10.30 each if you show your London Culture Card, (£12.95 if you have not yet joined).
We will be meeting at London Bridge Tube Station, inside the station, near the ticket barriers, when you come through the barriers look for the 'Tooley Street' exit and we will be waiting under that sign.
Afterwards, we will head to a local bar or cafe for a chat over a drink.
1940's Concert: 'We'll Meet Again'
Take a nostalgic journey as June Whitfield introduces more memorable hits from the Blitz era with Gavin Sutherland, special guests and live orchestra in an all singing and dancing celebration.
Back by popular demand following a sold out 2009 show, the evening features another programme of timeless classics commemorating the World War Two years, including 'In the Mood', 'We'll Meet Again', 'A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square' and 'Begin the Beguine'.
Plus a toe-tapping tribute to George Formby featuring 'Mr Wu', 'Leaning on the Lamp Post' and 'When I'm Cleaning Windows' and a traditional singalong to 1940s favourites including 'Underneath the Arches', 'Run Rabbit Run' and 'Hang out the washing on the Siegfried line'.
Tickets cost from £12.50 each, click here to book your ticket!
