Join us to visit The Courtauld Art Gallery, located in Somerset House on Saturday 1st May at 1pm!
About the gallery
The Courtauld Gallery is one of the finest small art museums in the world. Its collection stretches from the early Renaissance into the 20th century and is particularly renowned for the unrivalled collection of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist paintings. The Gallery also holds an outstanding collection of drawings and prints and fine example of sculpture and decorative arts.
Formed by the pioneering collector Samuel Courtauld, the collection offers an array of outstanding works charting the development of modern French painting from Monet and Renoir to Seurat and Gauguin.
It includes world-famous masterpieces such as van Gogh’s Self-Portrait with Bandaged Ear, Manet’s great last painting A Bar at the Folies-Bergère and an extensive group of outstanding canvases by Cézanne. A further room is dedicated to paintings, drawings and bronzes by Degas.
The gallery also has a temporary exhibition on Michelangelo's drawings of 'the Dream'.
Entry to the gallery is £5 each. Members will receive a discount of 20% on entry by showing their 'Culture Card'. To become a member and purchase a 'Culture Card', please click here... alternatively you can pay by cash at your next meetup.
Also, I'm arranging a private 1 hour guided tour of the main paintings in the gallery, which will be another £5 per person, please indicate if you wish to be on the guided tour.
Afterwards, we will head to the gallery's cafe for a snack and a chat.
We will be meeting up at Temple Tube station, near the ticket barriers, inside the station.
