Fra Angelico to Leonardo Italian Renaissance Drawings @ the British Museum

Holborn Tube Station (map)

Selected By: Robert

Come along on Saturday 10th July at 1pm to see the exhibition 'Fra Angelico to Leonardo Italian Renaissance Drawings' at the British Museum.

About the exhibition
This major exhibition features 100 exquisite drawings by Italian Renaissance artists including Raphael, Leonardo and Michelangelo.

A unique collaboration between the Uffizi in Florence and the British Museum, the display charts the increasing importance of drawing during this period, featuring works by Leonardo da Vinci, Fra Angelico, Jacopo and Gentile Bellini, Botticelli, Carpaccio, Filippo Lippi, Mantegna, Michelangelo, Verrocchio and Titian.

Infrared and other technology used in conservation research provide fresh insights into how drawing allowed painters to experiment and explore with a freedom not always reflected in their finished works. Examples in the exhibition show the trend towards depiction of movement and expression of emotion, often inspired by classical antiquity.

This exhibition is a unique opportunity to discover the evolution of drawing which laid the foundations of the High Renaissance style of Michelangelo and Raphael.

It's a popular exhibition, so you need to book a ticket in advance to enter at a timed slot. We are aiming for the 1:30pm slot.
Tickets are £12 each, although I've negotiated a discount for members who have paid their membership fee and received their 'London Culture Card' and tickets for you are only £7 each.

If you're not a member yet, it costs £10 a year. You can pay your membership fee here...

If you wish to attend, I'm aiming to book the tickets together, so I need payment in advance (by the 20th June) as the time slots will book up in advance. You can either Paypal me the money ([masked]) or pay me cash at a meetup in the next few weeks.

After the exhibition, we can either wonder around the British Museum or head to a local pub for a chat over a drink.

If you can't see us at the station, please call. Hope to see you there!

Regards

I stayed at this exhibition until it closed because there was so much to see and read. However I didn't meet up with you later because my bag was weighing me down and I had to go out to leave it in the cloakroom, then had some coffee and went back in again staying 'til 5.30pm. Fascinating.

Superb drawings and a very informative exhibition. Bit heavy on reading, but perhaps that's just me being lazy!
